Chicago Area Media Tour Dates Announced for Career and Technical Education Programs
National, IL ACTEs to host media tours through Chicago metro area from Sept. 19-21

Alexandria, VA – The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) has announced a joint media tour in the Chicago metropolitan area with the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education (IACTE). The two associations will visit six career and technical education (CTE) programs between Wednesday, Sept. 19 and Friday, Sept. 21.

  • Carl Schurz High School (Chicago, 9/19)
  • Stephen T. Mather High School (Chicago, 9/19)
  • Technology Center of DuPage (Addison, 9/20)
  • College of DuPage (Glen Ellyn, 9/20)
  • Lockport Township High School East (Lockport, 9/21)
  • Shepard High School (Palos Heights, 9/21)

Members of the media, state legislators and local policymakers are invited to attend. The tours will provide firsthand insight into the innovative CTE programs in the area, as well as an opportunity to ask questions of representatives from both associations, school administrators, educators and students. The tour comes less than two months after President Donald Trump signed the first major piece of education legislation of his presidency, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.

Traveling to each stop on the tour will be: Cindy Stover, IACTE Executive Director; Alice Slager, IACTE President; and Jarrod Nagurka, ACTE Advocacy and Public Affairs Manager.
