We look forward to seeing you in Milwaukee for the 2024 Work-Based Learning Conference, where more than 1,000 CTE professionals will gather to discuss the hottest topics in work-based learning, network with colleagues and industry partners, and hear from exciting keynotes.

Kevin Paul Scott has traveled to six continents and spoken to leaders from more than 100 countries.  Kevin co-founded the leadership consultancy ADDO (which is Latin for Inspire). In addition to serving businesses and brands, ADDO has partnered to inspire students, equip educators, and impact schools across America. ADDO developed the national Chick-fil-A Leader Academy program, currently in more than 1,000 schools in 43 states. Additionally, ADDO created the Baltimore Ravens Leadership Institute, which serves elementary schools with an innovative character education program. Kevin is passionate about investing in educators. Over the last several years, Kevin has spoken to and consulted with several school districts, as well as at national educator conferences and associations.

Designing and Delivering Equity-Minded Work-Based Learning Programs at the Post-Secondary and Secondary Level

Cost” $150Have you ever returned from a conference and wondered, “what’s next?” In this workshop, we will review ways to understand student development, particularly among under-represented, to help you create or update equity-minded work-based learning (WBL) programs at secondary and two- and four-year institutions. Topics will include delivery methods and pedagogy, administration of programs, and assessment of learning, as well as a review of resources available to enhance your campus programs. Participants will use workgroup dialogues to help them develop an action plan to share specific challenges and solutions in designing WBL programs.

Waukesha County Business Alliance TourMay 1, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Cost: $50 (Tour limited to 80 attendees)Join us for this tour featuring career paths, salaries and the education required to succeed in today’s manufacturing environment. Schools2Skills was created by the Waukesha County Business Alliance in 2011, making it the state’s best practice for talent pipeline programming. This program offers students, parents and educators the opportunity to learn about manufacturing careers available in Waukesha County and the region. Transportation and equipment are provided. All attendees must wear closed-toed shoes, and we encourage long pants.

GPS Education Partners with Komatsu and Lakeside Engineering Tour May 1, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Cost: $50Join us for this interactive, multi-stop tour to learn how GPS Education Partners (GPS Ed) is serving high school students who are hungry for the world of work but ambivalent about their secondary education. GPS Ed’s immersive education center and youth apprenticeship program engages students through a curriculum designed for immediate application in the “real world” with industry recognized credentials and more than 1,000 hours of work-based learning experience. This pre-conference event will provide participants with:

– A tour of an education center
– The opportunity to speak with current students, alumni, business leaders and partners and GPS Ed staff on the impact of the program
– A tour of two modern manufacturing plants where students experience the real world of work while being trained/coached/mentored by caring adults that are investing in the next generation workforce
