ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Lindy Daman, College & Career Preparation & Assessment Coordinator at Ingham ISD – Wilson Talent Center in Mason, Michigan, as the 2023 ACTE Region I Counseling and Career Development Professional. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities.

Lindy Daman is the College and Career Preparation & Assessment Coordinator for Ingham Intermediate School District – Wilson Talent Center in Mason, Michigan. With over 23 years of experience in helping students prepare for their next steps in life, Lindy has a passion for ensuring students know what their options are and what tools and resources they will need to get there. Ms. Daman develops and coordinates career development systems in alignment with the Michigan Career Development Model (MCDM) and provides implementation support to local districts in the Ingham ISD service area.

Lindy received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Development from Central Michigan University and a Master of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University, where she has served as a guest lecturer. In addition, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and a State of Michigan Certified Transition Coordinator.

Ms. Daman has provided input as a committee member on the revising and rebranding of the MCDM for the Michigan Department of Education’s Office of Career and Technical Education, and serves on the ASPiRES team, a career development research project partnership between Ingham ISD and Michigan State University. Lastly, in partnership with our local College Access Network, Lindy works tirelessly to create opportunities for students to better prepare themselves for college, careers, apprenticeships, or the military by hosting events that create connections for them to execute those plans. Her passion for career development is evident in the knowledge she shares with at-risk, middle school and high school students, and inclusive of special population students, as well as parents, counselors, and educators in our service area.

Daman is one of five finalists for the 2024 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country.
