ACTE Announces Ohio Instructor as a National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Lisa Pierce-Burger, Instructor at C-TEC of Licking County in Newark, Ohio, as the 2023 ACTE Region I Postsecondary Educator of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) educators at the postsecondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

Lisa Pierce-Burger is a 38 year veteran Registered Nurse. She graduated from Central Ohio Technical College with her A.D. in Nursing. After earning her RN license she went on to work in several Long Term care facilities. Lisa then went on to work 22 years in Nationwide Children’s Hospital Home care division. The past 8 years Lisa has worked at C-TEC of Licking County as their Program Administrator for the STNA program. Lisa enjoys her work at C-TEC and loves teaching and interacting with students as well as long term care residents at clinicals. In her spare time Lisa loves to garden, is an avid birdwatcher, and a self-proclaimed Cat lover! 

Pierce-Burger is one of five finalists for the 2024 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 29, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox, The Army, and Stratasys.
