ACTE Announces Arizona Faculty as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Nicole Hampton, Lecturer at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, as the 2020 ACTE Region V Postsecondary Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the postsecondary level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institution and communities.

Nicole Hampton has been faculty in the College of Education at Northern Arizona University since August of 2001 and the CTE area coordinator since 2009.  In this capacity, she is responsible for course design and delivery at the undergraduate and graduate levels, student advising and mentoring, service activities, leadership, program assessment and reporting, and administration for the CTE degrees.  Hampton’s work includes program articulation with the statewide community college system as well as program outcome development and curriculum mapping and assessment for the programs.  Hampton has been a member of ACTE AZ since 2005 and ACTE since 2008 and serves on the ACTEAZ board as the University Representative – a position she was appointed to in 2009.  Passionate for students, she serves as scholarship chair for both the ACTEAZ organization and the College of Education at NAU.

Hampton is one of five finalists for the 2021 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on Thursday, December 3, during ACTE’s Virtual CareerTech VISION 2020.
