ACTE Announces Mississippi Career and Technical Education Counselor as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Tracy Hardy, Career and Technical Education Counselor at Kosciusko-Attala Career Tech Center in Kosciusko, Mississippi as the recipient of the 2019 ACTE Region IV Counseling and Career Development Professional Award. This award recognizes school counselors and career development professionals who have demonstrated commitment to connecting students with opportunities for success, shown innovation in career exploration and development, and have advocated for career and technical education (CTE) as a viable option for all students.

Tracy Hardy received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education in 1992, Master’s Degree in School Counseling in 2002, and a National Board Certified Counselor certification in 2004.  She is a lifetime member of FBLA, current member of Association of Career and Technical Education, Mississippi ACTE, Mississippi Counselor Association, and Mid-Mississippi Counselor Association, where she has held the position of secretary and treasurer. She received the Golden Shovel Award for volunteerism from the Kosciusko Chamber of Economic Development. Local industry is very important to career and technical education. It is her responsibility to make sure students are aware of college and job opportunities which will help them make wise decisions concerning a lifelong career. For 28 years, she has been honored to guide students toward their career goals. Hardy’s vision is to create, promote and foster an environment which enables every student the opportunity to reach their full potential, while providing an equitable and respectful learning environment.

Hardy is one of five finalists for the 2021 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on Thursday, December 3, during ACTE’s Virtual CareerTech VISION 2020.
