ACTE Announces Mississippi Director as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Rex Buckhaults, Director of the Jones County Career Technical Center in Laurel, Mississippi, as the 2019 ACTE Region IV Administrator of the Year. This award recognizes administrative career and technical education (CTE) professionals at the school, district, county, state, or federal level who have demonstrated leadership in ensuring teacher and student success and have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and effective CTE programs.

Buckhaults was a Vocational Agriculture Teacher for 14 years and has been a CTE administrator for the past 26 years. Buckhaults recently completed his third term as the President of the Mississippi ACTE, and was honored as the 2018-2019 Mississippi ACTE Member of the Year. Buckhaults has received many awards over the past 40 years for his teaching and school leadership, and is a true believer in CTE.

Buckhaults is one of five finalists for the 2020 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, a dinner and award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on Wednesday evening, December 4, during ACTE’s CareerTech VISION 2019 in Anaheim, CA.
