ACTE Announces Utah Agricultural Educator as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Kip Hansen, Agricultural Educator/ FFA Advisor at Sevier School District in Monroe, Utah, as the 2023 ACTE Region V Carl Perkins Community Service Award. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) educators at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

Kip Hansen graduated from Utah State University in 1983 with BS degrees in Agricultural Education and Animal Science. After graduation Kip briefly taught Vocational Agriculture at Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah. After a successful thirty year career in the agricultural business industry Mr. Hansen returned to the high school agriculture classroom in 2014. He is currently the Agricultural Science Teacher and FFA Advisor at South Sevier High School in Monroe, Utah. Kip enjoys restoring antique tractors, competing in tractor pulls, and spending time with his wife Kayleen, their children, and grandchildren. He is also currently serving on the Richfield, Utah City Council. 

Hansen is one of five finalists for the 2024 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 29, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox, The Army, and Stratasys.
