ACTE Announces Kentucky Associate Professor, Director of Career and Technical Education as National Award Finalist

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Kemaly Parr, Associate Professor, Director of Career and Technical Education at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, as the 2021 ACTE Region II Postsecondary Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical teachers at the postsecondary level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of career and technical education (CTE) in their institution and communities.

 

Kemaly Parr is an associate professor in the Murray State University College of Education and Human Services Department of Adolescent, Career, and Special Education. Parr also serves as the Director of Career and Technical Education at Murray State. Parr received her doctoral degree from Auburn University in 2013. Prior to transitioning into education, she served as a dental hygienist in Oklahoma, Georgia and Tennessee.

 

Parr is one of five finalists for the 2022 national title. The national winner will be announced at the virtual ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The virtual event will take place on November 30 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The virtual Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
