ACTE Announces Nebraska Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher as National Award Finalist

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Miranda Bright, Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher at the Crete High School in Crete, Nebraska, as the 2021 ACTE Region V New Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes new career and technical education (CTE) teachers who have made significant contributions toward innovative and unique CTE programs and shown a professional commitment early in their careers.

 

Miranda Bright is the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Crete High School. She is committed and passionate about teaching FCS education and advising FCCLA. Her philosophy of teaching centers around experiential learning through engaging strategies. While teaching, she demonstrates innovation through technology and gamification. Highlights include creating her own achievement badges and modifying popular games to increase student engagement and achievement. In her first three years of advising, she significantly increased the participation of the High Plains FCCLA chapter and started a brand new FCCLA chapter at Crete. As a member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers of Nebraska public relations committee, she actively highlights members, promotes the achievements, and shares classroom activities of Nebraska FCS teachers on social media. Bright also currently serves as a board member for Nebraska FCCLA and as a board member for the Association for Career and Technical Education of Nebraska.

 

Bright is one of five finalists for the 2022 national title. The national winner will be announced at the virtual ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The virtual event will take place on November 30 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The virtual Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
