Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Leadership Pathways Section

Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Leadership Pathways Section is a Congressionally mandated youth citizenship program that seeks to be an integral part of each state’s career and technical education (CTE) model. Programs are taught by retired officers and non-commissioned officers certified to teach by the U.S. Department of Defense. Instructors teach high school students in grades 9 – 12 employability skills using the JROTC framework of teamwork, leadership, personal responsibility, character education, and respect for all. Students, known as cadets, are provided equal access to education, training, and the tools needed for successful participation in a 21st Century workforce environment. Administrators provide support and professional development to JROTC instructors in order to deliver high-quality CTE education. JROTC instructors provide the training, services and/or resources essential for cadets to learn essential employment skills needed by today’s industry and business leaders.

The primary purpose of the JROTC Leadership Pathways section in the New and Related Services Division of ACTE is to provide awareness for administrators supporting dedicated JROTC instructors and programs teaching JROTC curriculum, and cadets pursuing 21st Century careers.
