ACTE Announces New Mexico Deputy Director College & Career Readiness as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Bobbi Eichhorst, Deputy Director College & Career Readiness at New Mexico Public Education Department in Santa Fe, New Mexico, as the 2022 ACTE Region V Lifetime Achievement and Hall of Fame. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) educators at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities.

Bobbi Eichhorst most recently served Region IV as the Deputy Director in the College & Career Readiness Bureau of the New Mexico Public Education Department. She is a strong advocate of the ACTE High Quality CTE Framework because she worked closely with a wide variety of successful CTE programs in her roles as an agricultural & science teacher/FFA advisor, professional development provider, CTSO state advisor (SkillsUSA, HOSA, TSA), and state CTE administrator. She appreciates the common language and tools the framework provides to promote HQ CTE for career-readiness. Bobbi was recognized both as a student and then as a teacher in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students/Teachers for agriculture. Before she retired from NM education, Bobbi expanded her career from classroom agricultural education into multiple roles in professional development and administration to support academics and CTE for career readiness on a statewide level to more closely connect CTE with community workforce and economic development. She is proud of the progress NM has made to promote high quality CTE as an educational pathway of value for student success.

Eichhorst is one of four finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
