ACTE Announces Kansas Agriculture Instructor as National Award Finalist

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Laura Miller, Agriculture Instructor at Geary County Schools, USD 475 in Junction City, Kansas, as the 2021 ACTE Region V Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities.

 

Laura Miller is the Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor at Junction City High School in Junction City, KS.  She will be entering her 15th year of teaching this fall. Miller helped establish the agricultural education program and FFA chapter at JCHS in 2017-18.  Miller teaches four CASE classes and integrates STEM foundations in each course. The FFA Chapter has seen success on many levels including Nationals and is strong in several career development events. Miller is passionate about diversity and inclusion in agricultural education and in the agricultural industry.

 

Miller is one of five finalists for the 2022 national title. The national winner will be announced at the virtual ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The virtual event will take place on November 30 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The virtual Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
