ACTE Announces Iowa Retired CTE Consultant as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Lisa Stange, Retired CTE Consultant from Clive, Iowa, as the 2022 ACTE Region III Lifetime Achievement and Hall of Fame Award. This award recognizes CTE professionals for their leadership on behalf of ACTE, their innovations in CTE and their contributions to the field over an extended period of time. The Hall of Fame honors the leadership of CTE professionals who have made enduring contributions to CTE throughout their career.

Lisa Stange has been devoted to advancing and advocating for CTE at the local, state, and national levels. She has a very comprehensive background in CTE, having served first as a middle school and secondary CTE classroom teacher and work-based learning in districts of varying sizes for over 23 years. Stange followed that with work as a professor and program coordinator preparing CTE teachers at the University level where she grew a program that had fallen in numbers to one of the top producing programs in FCS teacher education.  Stange retired in June of 2020 as a state CTE consultant. During that time, she served CTE nationally as president of LEAD FCS Education, ACTE Region III VP and ACTE Finance Chair. That role expired in July of 2021. Stange has served at the FCS division level as a state key leader, secretary, VP and President, at the Iowa ACTE state level as a board member, President, VP, and secretary. Her willingness to serve ACTE in the variety of roles she has within the organization at the local, state, and national levels and the knowledge gained by these experiences contributed to her candidacy for ACTE President Elect in 2022. Stange views herself as a CTE educator first and foremost and is passionate about fostering quality CTE for all.  Lisa has an additional focus and passion to help cultivate the growth of a strong, qualified group of CTE educators so that the work of CTE can continue to positively impact our workforce, employers and communities of all types. This passion led to her work in Region III and ACTE with a core TEACH CTE group that has expanded to a Region III media campaign and ACTE focus for the hire of a postsecondary and TEACH CTE lead position. She is currently serving as the coordinator for and ACTE Opportunity grant Symposium for advancing preservice or alternatively certified Career & Technical Educators.

Stange is one of four finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
