ACTE Announces Georgia Career Advisor and Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator as National Award Finalist 

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Angela Sparks, Career Advisor and Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator at Marietta High School in Marietta, Georgia, as the 2022 ACTE Region II Counseling and Career Development Professional. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

 

Angela K. Sparks is an educator with a true passion for supporting students on their journey to a career. Thirty-plus years in education has provided her with opportunities to support students as a classroom instructor, Work-Based Learning Coordinator and Central Office District-Wide CTAE Coordinator for a top 25 largest district high school in the nation and now in her current role as a Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator and Career Advisor for a small district in Marietta, Georgia. Angela is dedicated to building inclusive programming for all students in her district. Her talents include relationship building and partner development. With a Specialist degree in Leadership and a broad array of roles in her career, Angela has found the perfect combination of impacting students both in a leadership capacity and instructionally as well. 

 

Sparks is one of five finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
