This CTE Month ACTE is excited to showcase the esteemed Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), serving more than 2 million CTE students nationwide and enhancing student learning through contextual instruction, applied learning and real world application. CTSOs offer students innovative programming, authentic leadership experiences and business and community opportunities at the school, state and national levels. Learn more each organization below.

Business Professionals of America

Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. BPA has 43,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards. Learn more

DECA

With nearly a 75-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Their strong connection with our organization has resonated into a brand that people identify as a remarkable experience in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. DECA’s programs and activities have constantly evolved as we use the latest technology and apply cutting edge educational research. Our core focus has remained consistent and is captured in our mission.

FCCLA

About FCCLA
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private schools through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Today, more than 210,000 student members are active in over 4,500 chapters across the nation and Puerto Rico. The work of FCCLA helps students and teachers focus on various youth concerns, including parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, sustainability, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career preparation in four specific Career Pathways.

FFA

There are more than three-hundred distinct careers in the agriculture, food and natural resources industries. Agricultural Education and the National FFA Organization work in tandem to connect our members to those career opportunities through the Three Circle Model of Ag Education. Our model combines the strengths of classroom education, work-based experiential learning and career preparation and leadership through FFA.

HOSA

HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. We help each student excel. A nonprofit national education association, SkillsUSA serves middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service (including health) occupations.
