ACTE Announces North Dakota Director as National Award Finalist

ACTE Announces North Dakota Director as National Award Finalist 

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Dan Rood, Director at Southeast Region Career and Technology Center in Wahpeton, North Dakota, as the 2022 ACTE Region V Lifetime Achievement and Hall of Fame Award. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) educators at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

 

Dan Rood, jr. recently retired he was the Director at Southeast Region Career and Technology Center in Wahpeton, North Dakota.The Center serves 14 school districts and over 1600 students.  Dan has served on many different boards and offices throughout his career.  He started out as a grocery store stock boy in high school, started teaching in 1978, started as director in 1984 and will be retiring at the end of June.  He is and has been a member of many organizations over the years including  Mayor of Wahpeton for 4 years, NDCEL, NDEA, NDACTE, NDCTEA, School Masters, ND FFA Association, Wahpeton Optimists, Head of the Red Youth Activities, Wahpeton Chamber of Commerce, and many other organizations.  He has served as chairman at one point in time of most of the groups he has been a part of. 

 

Rood is one of four finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
