ACTE Announces Georgia CTAE Director as National Award Finalist 

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Cynthia Clanton, CTAE Director at Carroll County Schools in Carrollton, Georgia, as the 2022 ACTE Region II Administrator of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) administrators at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

Cynthia Clanton has served as the Career, Technical Agricultural Education Director for Carroll County Schools for the past 20 years.  As a visionary for innovation, she has leveraged business partnerships to provide multiple opportunities for her students.  Examples include nationally recognized programs such as 12 for Life with Southwire Company, Tanner Connections with Tanner Health System, and The Agriculture Education Facility with Pilgrim’s Pride.  During her tenure, Ms. Clanton has secured over $10 million in grant funding to implement CTE projects and programs.  Career and Technical Education in Carroll County has been featured for its best practices by The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, Forbes Magazine, and Harvard Business School.  In addition, the U.S. Secretary of Education selected Carroll County CTE for a site visit as part of his annual “Back to School” tour.  Ms. Clanton has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for her efforts in creating a premier CTE experience for the students of the Carroll County School System.      

Clanton is one of five finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
