ACTE Announces Arkansas Family and Consumer Science Teacher as National Award Finalist 

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Jenny Marroquin, Family and Consumer Science Teacher at Siloam Springs High School in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, as the 2022 ACTE Region IV New Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

 Jenny Marroquin is a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Siloam Springs High School. She has been teaching for five years. As a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, she majored in Career and Technical Education. As a high school student, she was a member of FCCLA and served the organization in many capacities including representing Siloam Springs at five National STAR Events competitions and as a District 1 officer. Today as a teacher, she is proud to work for her Alma Mater and enjoys teaching her students valuable life skills. In 2020, the Arkansas Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences named her New Teacher of the Year, and she is currently serving as the Past President for that organization. In 2019, Jenny was selected to be a part of Arkansas ACTE Leads Program and currently serves on the Arkansas ACTE Board of Directors as a representative of the FACS division. Jenny and her husband Jorge, have two handsome boys, Jorge (11) and Adrian (10). When not at school or with her FCCLA chapter, she enjoys spending time on the soccer field with her husband and two boys.  

Marroquin is one of five finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
