ACTE Announces Michigan Director of Secondary Programs as National Award Finalist 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Lucas Schrauben, Director of Secondary Programs at Holt Public Schools in Holt, MI as the 2025 ACTE Region I Administrator of the Year. This award recognizes administrative career and technical education (CTE) professionals at the school, district, county, state or federal level who have demonstrated leadership in ensuring teacher and student success and have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and effective career and technical education programs.  

Lucas Schrauben is a visionary leader and Career and Technical Education (CTE) administrator, currently serving as the Director of Secondary Programs at Holt Public Schools since 2018. With a master’s degree in Career and Technical Education from Western Michigan University, Lucas’s journey is rooted in a deep passion for education. His path began as a CTE student and entrepreneur, leading to a role as District Manager at Aldi Foods before he ultimately answered his calling to serve as an educator. 

Lucas’s innovative programming is evident in his introduction of courses such as Intro to Drones and Aviation, showcasing his foresight in recognizing emerging career fields. Under his leadership, Holt Public Schools has experienced significant growth in programs like Cybersecurity & Computer Networking and Digital Media, ensuring alignment with industry needs and college credit agreements. 

Beyond the classroom, Lucas’s dedication extends to initiatives like the Holt Early College and organizations such as FIRST Robotics, reflecting his commitment to fostering innovation and community engagement. Nominated for the ACTE award by the teachers he oversees, Lucas is highly regarded for his exceptional leadership qualities, unwavering support for staff, and genuine care for their well-being. 

Schrauben is one of five finalists for the 2025 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on December 4, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox, The Army, and Stratasys.
