TIVA provides an active force with a variety of programs to meet the professional needs of its members.

Government Representation: TIVA has a paid Lobbyist representing our members in Austin and Washington who monitors legislation, giving critical input to lawmakers and the State Board of Education. The Lobbyist and the Executive Director work together to influence legislation and policies that affect career and Technical education programs, teachers, funding and jobs.

TIVA Attorney provides free initial legal consultation to TIVA members regarding education/professional concerns.

Liability Insurance specifically designed for the trade and industrial teacher. $2 million policy protects members from errors and omissions arising out of the conduct of professional responsibilities and provides full defense costs even if allegations are groundless, false or frivolous. Includes criminal charges, civil rights allegations, corporal punishment, tenure, dismissal and other employment rights-type actions if decision favors the member.

TIVA Updates sent to members with news, trends and ideas that impact the trade and industrial teacher.

E-mail Alerts reports current state and federal political issues affecting career and technical education. Many ask for you to take action by corresponding with lawmakers.

Professional Development: Career advancement and a lifetime commitment to professional development are characteristics of the CTE educator. TIVA hosts two professional development conferences a year offering relevant and rigorous industry training and certifications

TIVA’s Annual Exhibits Show: Held during the annual TIVA Professional Development Conference, brings vendors from around the nation to demonstrate the latest in equipment, textbooks, resource materials, fundraisers and personal image building.

Prestigious Awards Program recognizes outstanding contributions by teachers, administrators, counselors, legislators and other policy makers.

Scholarships: Awarded to TIVA educators for continuing education, Best of Texas Outstanding CTE students as well as alumnae and community leaders.
