Please read the message below from ACTEA Interim President Anedda Trautman.
Dear NYS ACTEA Membership,
I am honored to serve as your Interim President of NYS ACTEA. As a 10+ year member of ACTEA and 20+ years in CTE, I am aware of the passion, dedication, and commitment you deliver daily in our CTE Centers.
Our students, staff and communities have been through a lot over the past few months and we are leading into the future with some uncertainty. We have all spent countless hours since March 13th preparing for the end of the 2019-2020 school year and the summer planning for opening day 2020-2021. Every night, we leave work a little more prepared only to return the next day with an additional hoop to jump through.
As most of us have been back to the building since early summer, we feel a sense of security and “safeness” in how we approach our daily responsibilities. It is important to remember our first days back as we welcome staff this week and students next, that they will come with the same sense of anxiety and nervousness we felt. Please take time to ensure they feel safe and supported.
CTE is strong in America and it is our responsibility to continue to provide the best possible education for our students, communities and beyond. One thing for sure about our staff is they are some of the most diverse, flexible and adaptable crew out there. I trust they will rise to the top and continue to make us proud and their students shine.
Good luck on your opening days. If you need anything please don’t hesitate to reach out to zone, board representative or board member. We are ready to assist the best we can.
