Region III Conference 2019

Tentative Schedule

The ACTE Region III Conference will be held in Lisle, Illinois, June 12-14. Sessions will take place at UTI and the DoubleTree by Hilton Lisle.

Tours will be held on Thursday, June 13 in the afternoon.

Registration includes dinner on Wednesday, Thursday lunch, Thursday networking reception and Friday lunch. Breakfast is included in the hotel rate.

Cancellations/refunds must be requested in writing before June 3, 2019 and will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given after June 3.

ACTE Connect provides leadership development and gives members, regardless of their level of experience with ACTE, an opportunity for growth and development as well as a clear pathway to further leadership engagement with ACTE.

College of DuPage Manufacturing, Agriculture, Business, Art & Hospitality
The College of DuPage (COD), with more than 28,000 students, is the second largest provider of undergraduate education in the State of Illinois, after the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Tour the state of the art industrial technology labs, the “green” green house, the business technology labs, the student run hotel and the student created art.

$15 – Morton Arboretum – Troll Hunt
The Morton Arboretum’s 1,700 acres hold more than 222,000 live plants representing nearly 4,300 taxa from around the world. On this tour journey through the far-reaching forest to hunt for six colossal trolls crafted from reclaimed wood by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. Marvel at these 15- to 30-foot-tall (and one 60-foot long) sculptures that have been created to serve as protectors of our environment. The Arboretum champions the world’s trees through plant collections, science and conservation, education, and outreach. (Join the adventure and pick up the Troll Hunter’s Handbook when you arrive. The Handbook will help you find a clue for each troll to locate the Troll’s secret hideout, complete with a troll-size toothbrush and other troll essentials.)

$4 – Giant Steps and Cantigny McCormick House
Giant Steps has been focused on providing education, therapeutic and recreational programs for elementary, junior high and high school students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Giant Steps is a therapeutic day school in the State of Illinois licensed and certified to exclusively serve students with a primary diagnosis of autism. The tour will take us through the entire facility and discuss the many services that this educational organization provides to its clients. Cantigny McCormick House is a historic house museum that depicts the country home of a family that made the Chicago Tribune the “World’s Greatest Newspaper.”

$12 – Naper Settlement and Scavenger Hunt
Naper Settlement is a family-friendly outdoor history museum featuring 12 acres of learning and interactive opportunities for all ages. Be immersed in history as you learn about the past and how it relates to the present, from pioneer times to today. Participate the online scavenger hunt while you explore the settlement.

Hot! Hot! Hot! Trends in Food
Join this tour for a hands on session on hot trends in the food industry. This session will take place in the state-of-the-art culinary kitchen at the College of DuPage.

COD Heath Sciences Department
The College of DuPage Health Science Discipline (HSD) programs offer a wide range of courses with hands-on training and academic skills that prepare students for numerous careers in the medical field. Spend some time in their State of the Art SIMS lab and tour other areas of the department.
