ACTE Announces Washington Teacher as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Kitti Wheeler, Marketing Teacher at Clover Park School District in Lakewood, Washington, as the 2020 ACTE Region V Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities.

Kitti Wheeler is a national conference presenter, author, and teacher mentor with thirty years’ experience as a business and marketing educator. She is an accomplished DECA advisor, work-based learning coordinator and student store supervisor.  Wheeler has an extensive background implementing programs and curriculum that provide students with relevant experiences to develop their potential as leaders in their schools, communities and future careers.  She has a passion for helping teachers thrive in the classroom and gives her students hope by instilling in them a positive mindset and a belief that their future is limitless. Wheeler is a National Board-Certified Teacher and has a Master’s Degree in Education.

Wheeler is one of five finalists for the 2021 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on Thursday, December 3, during ACTE’s Virtual CareerTech VISION 2020.
