ACTE Announces Oklahoma Law Enforcement Services Teacher as National Award Finalist

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Amanda Eastridge-English, Law Enforcement Services Teacher in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as the 2020 ACTE Region IV Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities.

Amanda Eastridge-English is the Law Enforcement Services teacher on Metro Tech’s South Bryant Campus. She is a former police chief and patrol officer who brings 22 years of law enforcement experience and multiple industry certifications into the classroom, a place that she describes as her passion and calling. Through a partnership with the Oklahoma City Police Department, Eastridge-English’s diligence has contributed to countless stories of student success in their personal and professional lives.

Eastridge-English is currently working with the Oklahoma State Legislature on furthering the mission of Career Tech thru the legislative process.  She was the recipient of the 2017 Partners for Progress Award and has served as the Trade & Industrial Education Association Parliamentarian, Secretary, Vice-President and is currently President-Elect.

Eastridge-English is one of five finalists for the 2021 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on Thursday, December 3, during ACTE’s Virtual CareerTech VISION 2020.
