ACTE Announces Colorado State University Associate Professor and Family and Consumer Sciences Program Chair as National Award Finalist 

 

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Dawn Mallette, Associate Professor, Family and Consumer Sciences Program at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, as the 2022 ACTE Region V Teacher Educator of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) teacher educators at the postsecondary level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

Dr. Dawn Mallette is an associate professor and teacher educator in the School of Education at Colorado State University. Dr. Mallette teaches a general teacher education methods course and coordinates a Professional Development School at Poudre High School for the School of Education’s Center for Educator Preparation. In addition, she chairs the B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences program, advising all of the students in the major, teaching multiple courses in the discipline, and supervising the program’s student teachers.  Dr. Mallette is also the associate director for distance education in the School of Education. In that role, she manages all of the school’s distance learning programs, and professional development coursework and workshops. 

Mallette is one of five finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
