On the Move

January 2018

  • Met with NOCTI to review prior activities and plan for 2018/2019 efforts. New this year is a partnership to produce a Credential Summit as a daylong focus on the state of credentials. The event will be held the day prior to the Best Practices and Innovations in CTE Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on September 25. 
  • Met with Harbor Freight Tools for Schools 
  • Met with Goodheart-Willcox to discuss their interest in expansion of partnership activities.
  • Participated in the U.S. Army’s Aligned Partner meeting January 3-5 in San Antonio, Texas. 
  • Held discussions with existing partners about current and future activities including with Realityworks, UTI, NCCER, and Pearson
  • Presented on Advance CTE’s final Secondary and Postsecondary Collaboration Working Group Meeting
  • Presented on a panel hosted by the National Urban League and UnidosUS titled “Advancing Equity through ESSA & CTE: Opportunities for Effective Program Implementation and Expansion”
  • Spoke with the WES Global Talent Bridge/Teacher Bridge Connection about ACTE’s focus on the teacher pipeline issue
  • Represented ACTE at the National Coordinating Council – Career Technical Student Organizations meeting
  • Participated on a Twitter Chat hosted by the Asia Society
  • Met with Senate HELP Committee staff on Perkins reauthorization issues
  • Participated with Advance CTE in a briefing on Perkins reauthorization hosted by the Senate CTE Caucus
  • Briefed with Advance CTE the Senate Democratic Committee staff on key opportunities for innovation in Perkins reauthorization
  • Attended several hearings on higher education held by the Senate education committee
  • Met with staff in House and Senate to discuss the reauthorizations of Perkins and the Higher Education Act
  • Met with new staff working on the House CTE Caucus
  • Worked with both Senator Kaine and Representative Langevin’s offices on CTE Month resolutions
  • Participated in the PostsecData Working Group meeting
  • Attended an Education Big Table meeting
  • Attended an ACT event on aligning education and the workforce
