Multiple Intelligences

To complete the multiple intelligences assignment:

Students meet with staff and preschool classroom to discuss and observe. How does the teacher use multiple intelligences for best practices of instruction?

After a period of observation, students will create a song and visual aid to share with a preschool class, to demonstrate their ability to teach with multiple intelligence methods.

Students meet again with their mentors to discuss feedback and areas for improvement. Ask for reflection. “How did you demonstrate understanding of the theory of multiple intelligences?”

What is the theory of multiple intelligences?

Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner proposed the idea that different people process information differently. Not to be confused with learning styles, the theory of multiple intelligences suggests that some of us possess verbal–linguistic intelligence, while others are inherently more logical–mathematical, or interpersonal.

Simply put, educators must be able to adapt their teaching to support multiple intelligences.
