MCTA Summer Institute
MCTA is pleased to provide you with registration forms for the 16th Annual MCTA Summer Professional Development Institute to be held at Turf Valley Resort on July 22 – 24, 2019. We encourage all supporters of CTE to participate in the Institute, where Maryland’s local school systems meet together to plan proactively for the coming school year, reflect on both Maryland and national best practices in CTE, and build collegial relationships among this outstanding group of educators and colleagues. Multiple attendees from school systems, community colleges and other relevant partners are encouraged and always welcome. This is the first conference year as a unified ACTE State Chapter. The preliminary agenda is attached. As a unified ACTE state chapter, MCTA will be offering professional development hours for the first time this year. Five (5) hours of professional development will be granted for full participation on each day of the Institute for a possible total of 10 hours for the entire conference.
As an overview of this year’s Institute, Monday evening is on your own. There are great restaurants and shopping in close by Ellicott City. The resort features golf, a spa, a pool and fine dining. The Institute will begin with breakfast at 8 am on Tuesday morning followed by a full day of professional development and our regular MCTA business meeting. Tuesday night will feature the MCTA Annual Dinner at the hotel when we celebrate the careers of retiring members and spend quality time together. Professional development will continue Wednesday.
The Turf Valley Resort is centrally located in Howard County and has a golf course, spa, indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, volley ball, etc. available for use by guests. It is also close to Ellicott City with nice shops and great restaurants and Columbia has a mall.
This year we will be accepting applications from MCTA colleagues for presentations at our Summer Institute. Please complete the form by May 28, 2019.
