  • Department Proposes Gainful Employment Regulations

    The Department of Education recently proposed regulations on gainful employment requirements for postsecondary educational institutions offering federal financial aid for career training programs. This proposal comes nearly a year after a federal court struck down the department’s previous attempt to regulate gainful employment.

  • Education and Workforce Training Highlights in President’s Budget

    Last week, the Obama Administration released its budget proposal for FY 2015. We previously reported that the budget proposes to level fund the Perkins Basic State Grant at $1.118 billion in FY 2015. In additional to Perkins, we would like to highlight some other proposals in the budget request that could impact funding for education and workforce training.

  • 2014 ACTE-NRCCUA Survey: Career Prep, Technical and Academic Skills, Employer Partnerships

    We're happy to announce findings from our annual, nationwide survey of CTE students and educators, conducted in partnership with the National Research Center for College and University Admissions™ (NRCCUA®). Findings in CTE Works! 2014 Results from a National Survey, first presented at ACTE's National Policy Seminar last week, demonstrate that CTE students are preparing for life after high school by developing and honing technical, academic and employability skills.

  • ACTE Partnership With EDC Leads to New White Paper

    On March 5, the Education Development Center, Inc, released a new white paper, Opportunities and Challenges in Secondary Career and Technical Education. The paper, first presented at our National Policy Seminar, is based on a survey of local CTE stakeholders and follow-up interviews with state leaders.
