NPS Sessions to Be Held on Capitol Grounds!

ACTE is pleased to announce that, thanks to generous help from Rep. Glenn Thompson’s office, this year’s National Policy Seminar will include programming on the Capitol grounds!

On the second day of the event, we will be meeting at the Capitol Visitors Center. Completed in 2008, the CVC is the largest addition to the Capitol in its 215-year history. It’s a beautiful addition to the Capitol complex and conveniently located between the House and the Senate office buildings, which makes for easy access to the offices of Members of Congress.

The highlight of our morning session in the CVC will be remarks from invited Members of Congress and congressional staff who will provide updates on the latest policy debates that have potential to affect CTE.

This year's topics include:

Who better to educate us on these issues than the Members of Congress and staff who are leading the work?

In addition, ACTE will be presenting the Policymaker of the Year Award, which is approved by the ACTE Board of Directors to nationally recognized policymakers who have made a contribution of national significance to CTE.

You will not want to miss this opportunity!

The FY 2014 omnibus appropriations bill passed overwhelmingly on the floor of the House of Representatives yesterday by a vote of 359-67. As we previously reported, the omnibus bill includes a $53 million increase for Perkins! The Senate is expected to vote on the measure before the end of the week. Please take a few minutes to reach out to your Senators and urge them to vote YES on this bill.
