ACTEAZ Summer Conference—40 Years of Excellence

I am honored to be a 2015 Region V National ACTE Fellow. I am also honored to be a member of Amanda Shively FeatureACTEAZ. We just celebrated 40 years of excellence at our 40th Annual ACTEAZ Summer Conference held in Tucson, AZ. I’m still excited and inspired as I write this. Basically, I wanted to encourage you to attend your state and/or regional conference, as well as the National ACTE Vision Conference. There is so much for you at each of these activities. At each conference, you will have the opportunity to meet, work with, and learn from the leaders at each level.

I’ve been a CTE educator for 24 years and every year at our Summer Conference, I have the opportunity to meet new people, network with old friends, and receive excellent professional development. Here in AZ much of our focus is now on the common core, so I was able to attend sessions and hear what other districts around the state are doing. I received some excellent ideas. I was also able to get valuable updates from our Arizona Department of Education partners. These are just two of many examples I could provide.

If you are wondering, how do I go to these conferences? Many of them offer first timer grants to cover registration costs. Also, if you check their websites, there is almost always a letter available that you can customize to present to your district leadership that helps explain the benefits to you and your students! Everything you do at these conferences can be immediately applied in your classroom! I highly encourage you to get out and attend!
