Passion and hard work have made Laycee Johnson an outstanding Family and Consumer Science teacher for the past 19 years. Her career has encompassed 14 years at the middle school level (8th and 9th graders), 5 years at the high school level, and 11 different FACS courses. With her creativity for FACS teaching, her classes draw students into the program and build excitement in and success for her students. Laycee managed a successful FCCLA chapter while at the high school level with her students earning national recognition. In addition, she built competitive Culinary and Management ProStart teams each year. With the new emphasis on STEM education, Laycee has incorporated math and science experimental concepts in her recipe books to emphasize to students that STEM is happening in FACS classes. She integrates new classroom technology in her teaching. Success in connecting with students has made Laycee an exceptional FACS teacher.
