2017 UACTE New Teacher of the Year
    Francisca Penna
    Agriculture Education
    Washington County School District

Francisca Pena grew up in Coalville, UT and has been involved in Agriculture my entire life. Shealways knew that I wanted a career in Agriculture – just didn’t know it would be as an educator. Her principle focus as an agricultural teacher is to provide opportunities for students to make connections with the curriculum and provide each student with real-life applications. She knows teaching is effective when students are able to make connections to the curriculum and apply the concepts that they have learned. The school theme at Pine View High School is “Every Student a Success”. She strives to give students multiple opportunities to be successful. She believes that agriculture education gives opportunities to students that struggle in a traditional classroom setting to be successful through our FFA, Classroom, and SAE three circle model.
