Planning, managing and performing the processing of materials into intermediate or final products and related professional and technical support activities such as production planning and control, maintenance and manufacturing/process engineering.
 
A Package of Pringle
Students are consultants asked to help a fictional factory that produces potato chips. The company is having financial trouble due to waste in the packing department. Students must find the most feasible, inexpensive means of packaging the product to ensure safe delivery. Secondary.
 
Friction Lab
Students play the role of a lab technician for a company that manufactures outdoor patio coverings, and they must determine the “slipperiness” of your company’s product by determining the coefficient of friction of each sample provided in both wet and dry conditions. Secondary.
 
Spring Constant
Students are quality control technicians for a spring manufacturing company, whose task is to randomly choose a spring and, using the Hook’s law device, measure the spring constant and determine if it meets specifications. Secondary.
