Connecting the Dots Between Career Tech and Public Schools

I’m Spread So Thin You Can See Through Me: Time Management for Teachers

Description: Join this interactive, upbeat, fast, and fun session on time management and personal productivity. Participants generally “hang themselves” as they discuss how they currently keep track of everything. An important theme is the notion that everyone is currently doing THREE CRITICAL time management habits, but just needs to “tweak” them a bit, in order to become more productive.


No Child Left Behind: Implications for Career and Technical Education

Description: discussion of the issues upon which the field of career and technical education must reflect
as it adjusts to the changes impelled by the No Child Left Behind legislation. The discussion will include reflections on transitioning CTE from “old” vocationalism to the new and prospects for CTE being included as general education in the high school.


Exploring the Future of Career and Technical Education

What’s New in Technical Assessments for CTE

Description: Presentation will feature new assessments in CTE, including tests developed for the States Career Cluster Initiative and Workplace Readiness, and use in reporting and improving instruction.


Legal Issues in Teaching

Presenter(s): Emily Moore; Tallahassee, FL, Dianne Mondry; Grand Forks, ND

Description: This presentation addresses some of the areas covered by the FEA Legal Services Program, and provides general information on the union's duty of fair representation, as well as educator rights and responsibilities in protecting one's self in the workplace, including self-reporting requirements, workers' compensation, Fair Labor Standards Act provisions, employment discrimination and sexual harassment, child abuse, and discipline and control of students. Other legal issues may be included based on the needs of the audience.
