Alexandria, VA -- The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) will conduct its first annual ACTE Books for Children (ABCs) community service program at this year's Annual Convention and Career Tech Expo in Las Vegas, December 12-15.
The books, for children ages five to 11 years, will be given to the Robert Taylor Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cash donations are also welcome and will go to the school along with the books.
According to Kathy Jo Elliott, ACTE President, "It is through programs like this that ACTE members can bring joy and changes to the lives of people in communities where we meet. It's just one of the ways that we can repay the hospitality of the communities that host our meetings each year."
The actual donation of the books will take place on Saturday, December 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Las Vegas Convention Center in the Grand Concourse. Janet Dobry, principal of Robert Taylor, will be present along with her supervisor, Carolyn Reedom, assistant region superintendent of the Southeast Region for the Clark County School District, to receive the gift of books and cash donations.
