ACTE Announces Election Results for President-Elect, Regional and Divion Vice President

ALEXANDRIA, VA ? The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) has announced the election results for 2003 for President-elect, Regional and Division Vice Presidents. The results of the election have been received and verified by the ACTE auditors.


President-elect

Francie Soliday Russell of Choctaw, Oklahoma has been elected President-elect for 2003-2004. She is Director of Adult Education at Eastern Oklahoma County Technical Center. She holds an Ed.D. from Oklahoma State University, an M.Ed. from the University of Central Oklahoma and a BS from Oklahoma State University. She has previously served on the ACTE Board as the Region IV Vice President and served as the Executive Committee Region Representative.


Region II Vice President-elect

Ruth Huff of Oxford, North Carolina has been elected Region II Vice President-elect. She is a Health Sciences Teacher at Granville County Schools. She also served as a Registered Nurse at Durham Regional Medical Center. She serves on the ACTE Region II Policy Committee.


Region V Vice President

Kathleen Lopp of Olympia, Washington has been elected Region V Vice President. She is the Executive Director and a Registered Lobbyist for ACTE in the state of Washington. She is a graduate of Olympia Vocational Technical College and South Puget Sound Community College. She is an ACTE Life Member and serves as the National Executive Directors Association Secretary.


Administration Division Vice President

James Little of Kokomo, Indiana has been elected Administration Division Vice President. He is the Director of the Kokomo Area Career Center in Kokomo. He received both his MS and BS in Secondary Education from Indiana State University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University. He serves on the ACTE Nominating Committee as well as the Indiana ACTE Marketing and Public Information Committee.


Agricultural Education Division Vice President

Gary Moore of Raleigh, North Carolina was elected Agricultural Education Division Vice President. He is a Professor at North Carolina State University. He earned his PhD and MS in Agricultural Education from The Ohio State University. He received his BS in Agricultural Education from Tarleton State University. He has served as the Agricultural Education Division Secretary and as Chair on the Nominating Committee.


Business Education Division Vice President-elect

Mary Nemesh of Gambrills, Maryland was elected Business Education Division Vice President-elect. She is a Business Education Department Chair/Teacher at Anne Arundel County Public Schools-Arundel High School in Maryland. She received her PhD in Educational Planning, Policy and Administration from the University of Maryland. She also received her M.Ed. in Business Education from the University of Maryland and her BS in Business Education from the Pennsylvania State University. She serves on the Business Education Strategic Planning & Policy Committee, acting as the Operating Policies Chair.


Family and Consumer Sciences Division Vice President-elect

Karen Mason of Granby, Missouri was elected Family and Consumer Sciences Division Vice President-elect. She is a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at East Newton High School. She received her M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Southwest Baptist University, her Vocational BSED from Pittsburgh State University and her AA in Arts from Crowder College. She serves as a Chair on the FCSE Public Information Committee.


Guidance Division Vice President

Jan Olson of Sioux City, Iowa was elected Guidance Division Vice President. She is a School Counselor and Facilitator of the Beginning Educator Mentor Program for Community Schools in Sioux City. She received her School Administration Endorsement from Drake University, and her MS and BS in Education from Central Missouri University. She is a contributor to the ACTE publication Techniques and serves on the Guidance Policy Committee.


Health Occupations Education Division Vice President

Gina Doyle of Wayne, Oklahoma was elected Health Occupations Education Division Vice President. She is a Practical Nursing Instructor/Coordinator at the Mid-America Technology Center in Oklahoma. She received her M.Ed. in Secondary Administration and her BA in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her Diploma in Nursing was received from the Mastin School of Nursing. She has served on the ACTE-HOE Policy and Finance/Budget Committees.


The Association for Career and Technical Education is the national professional association for the field of career and technical education. Now in its 77th year, ACTE?s membership numbers more than 30,000 teachers, counselors and administrators at the middle school, high school and postsecondary levels.
