Jacquart Recognized at ACTE Annual Convention

ALEXANDRIA, VA
?The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announces that Mary Eagon Jacquart Ph.D. of St. Paul, Minnesota was named the ACTE-McDonald?s Outstanding Career and Technical Educator. She was recognized at the ACTE Annual Convention and Career Tech Expo on December 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The ACTE-McDonald?s Outstanding Career and Technical Educator award is given to those other than full-time classroom or laboratory teachers. These individuals are providing or have recently provided significant contributions to professional associations and career and technical education programs in their respective communities or states.

Dr. Jacquart was recognized for her work as the System Director of the Educational Grants Program for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her major task is administering the Carl D. Perkins Applied Technology Act of 1998 for the State of Minnesota. Carl D. Perkins funds are awarded to local school districts with career and technical education programs, and to colleges within Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. This award reflects the leadership of Dr. Jacquart in promoting program quality, student access and student success within the many opportunities career and technical education offers. Career and technical education efforts are being focused on student readiness for college, career exploration and linkage between Minnesota high schools, colleges and universities.

Dr. Jacquart also works with related efforts in welfare reform and workforce and economic development. With jobs requiring more than a high school education and increased skill levels today and in the future, career and technical education provides a path to lifelong learning through certificate programs, diplomas, degrees and customized training. With campuses in 46 Minnesota communities and more than 3,500 education programs, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities provides many educational opportunities.

The Association for Career and Technical Education is the national association for the field of career and technical education. Now in its 77th year, ACTE?s membership numbers more than 30,000 teachers, counselors and administrator at the middle school, high school and college and university levels.
