ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announces that Caroline Caine of Brecksville, Ohio, and Noreen Remick of Salix, Pennsylvania, have been selected to receive ACTE’s 2005 Who’s Who Among American High School Students scholarship. Each student will receive $1,000 to use towards continuing their education.
Caine, a student at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, plans to study interactive media and business at Ohio University. Remick, a student at Forest Hills Senior High School and the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center, plans to enroll in The Allegany College of Maryland Medical Technician program with biotechnology as an option.
Both students earned well above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average while participating in several school sponsored activities including Skills USA, National Honor Society and Yearbook. In addition to their many school related activities, both students put in several hours of volunteer work while working at least 15 hours a week at a part-time job.
ACTE partnered with Who’s Who Among American High School Students in order to provide career and technical education students an additional opportunity to be recognized nationally for their hard work and achievement.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship students are required to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater and must be nominated by an advisor who is an ACTE member. Information concerning ACTE’s 2006 Who’s Who Among American High School Students scholarship will be available in the fall on ACTE’s web site at www.acteonline.org.
The Association for Career and Technical Education is the national professional association for the field of career and technical education. Now in its 79th year, ACTE’s membership numbers more than 30,000 teachers, counselors and administrators at the middle school, high school and postsecondary levels.
