Last week Congressmen Baird (D-WA) and English (R-PA), co-chairs of the CTE Caucus, began circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter requesting that other Members of Congress sign the letter to support an increase in Perkins funds, and to join the Congressional CTE Caucus. To date, 61 Representatives have supported an increase in Perkins funds, and 50 Representatives have joined the CTE Caucus.
The funding portion of this letter will be closed Tuesday morning, March 18. There is no deadline to join the CTE Caucus.
If your Representative has not signed onto the funding portion of the letter, or has not joined the caucus it is important that you contact his/her office and ask for support. Please see last week’s alert for additional talking points.

Background Information
In April 2007, Rep. Brian Baird (D-WA) and Rep. Phil English (R-PA) launched the Congressional Career and Technical Education Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. The mission statement of the Caucus is: “The Career and Technical Education Caucus is a bi-partisan group of Members of Congress created to enhance awareness in Congress of the importance of career and technical education in preparing a well-educated and skilled workforce in America.” The Caucus will serve as a promotion vehicle for legislation, ideas, and information related to career and technical education.
