The intent of this program is to provide CTE professors and educators with scholarly/professional development opportunities while at the same time providing the ACTE membership as a whole with the outcome of the program. The specifics of each program are left to the discretion of the scholar/practitioner, however, ACTE does have a list of recommended projects aligning with ACTE's Preferred Future; for a list of potential projects please contact email@example.com. Other project ideas are also welcome but are subject to review by ACTE staff.
The Educator-in-Residence will propose a plan of action, keeping in mind the mission and objectives of the Association. It is anticipated that the term of appointment will be three months, but it is negotiable. At least a week should be spent operating out of the ACTE Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, but the educators is not required to spend the entire time at this location. The scholar and practitioner will receive a stipend of $1,000 a month. The beginning and end dates are flexible.

Impact and Overview
The ACTE Educator-in-Residence Program provides opportunities for career and technical educators to further develop their competencies, skills and knowledge in career and technical education while making a contribution to the profession. Through the program, educators:
- Develop a proposal for study/research, or professional development and activity.
- Spend up to three months engaging in focused study that will enhance their own education, expand the knowledge base in career and technical education and provide leadership to ACTE.
- Become part of ACTE's team during their tenure.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a result of this experience, it is expected the individual will produce a final product that will advance the knowledge base, inform the public, or make some other type of substantive contribution to career and technical education. The final product could be a teaching unit, curriculum outline, monograph, instructional manual, a white paper, a research report, or some other scholarly product.
The person selected should be knowledgeable of career and technical education and have at least five years of experience as a practitioner in the field; preferably as a CTE teacher, educator or administrator. Formal course work in a field of career and technical education would be highly desirable. The person must also be willing and able to devote full-time effort to the position. Educators are asked to work on a project for ACTE. Typical terms are three months, depending on the nature of the project and what is approved by the Executive Committee.

Recognition and Rewards
Educators will receive a $1,000 a month stipend while completing their project. Educators will also have the opportunity to share their experience in ACTE's Techniques magazine and on the Educators in Action blog.
Educators will have an orientation at ACTE Headquarters to meet staff and learn about ACTE’s organization and governance. Educators will also have the opportunity to review and discuss their project with the necessary staff.
