ACTE State Associations Speak Out Against Sequestration

A A A

July 12, 2012

By: Mitch

ACTE and a broad coalition of organizations from the nondefense discretionary (NDD) community sent a letter to Congress, urging leaders to avert sequestration by adopting a “balanced approach to deficit reduction that does not include further cuts to NDD programs.” Sequestration will be especially devastating to education, reducing federal funding for education programs by $4 billion. Perkins could be cut by $102 million for Fiscal Year 2013 alone!

Joining in this effort are nearly 3,000 national, state and local organizations from across the country representing the education, health, public safety communities, among others. ACTE state associations that have added their voices to this cause include:

  • Alabama Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona (ACTEAZ)
  • Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Massachusetts Vocational Association
  • Minnesota Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Association for Career and Technical Education of Nebraska
  • Career and Technical Education Association of New Jersey
  • Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Pennsylvania Association for Career and Technical Education
  • South Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Utah Association for Career and Technical Education
  • Washington Association for Career and Technical Education

Thanks to these state associations and to all affiliated state and local organizations that signed this letter.
