Which One Are You: College Ready, Career Ready or Both?

In an effort to enhance students and parents knowledge of preparing for postsecondary options after high school, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has developed a series of college and career readiness forums to help its constituents navigate this process after high school. The event’s presenters were knowledgeable and experienced school guidance counselors from the school district with representatives from College Board and the Georgia Student Finance Commission. Topics included, but were not limited to, ACT/SAT preparation, financial aid, building a competitive transcript, and HOPE and Georgia College 411 (our state’s scholarship program and web-based program). The forum served as a way to introduce a face-face toolkit to guide students and their parents in the postsecondary options process through appropriate dissemination of information, navigating the online search process and providing direct training and communication to those that are impacted.
