Legislative Alert: Ask Your Senators to Sign Perkins Funding Letter

This week, senators who support CTE will have the opportunity to sign a letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee urging a strong federal investment in Perkins for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015. This effort is being led by Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Tim Kaine (D-VA), who are asking their colleagues to join them in supporting federal funding for CTE in the FY 2015 appropriations bill.

We recently reported on a similar appropriations letter effort in the House of Representatives. With the help of CTE advocates nationwide, there was strong, bipartisan support from 87 members of the House! We need to keep up the momentum and make sure that the Senate also recognizes the importance of funding CTE. Please take a few minutes to contact your senators and urge them to sign today! Quick action is critical—the deadline for senators to sign the letter is Thursday, April 3!

Action Needed:
  • Send an e-mail to your senators using the CTE Action Center.
  • Contact them by phone using the CTE Action Center directory or by calling the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
    • Tell them that Congress needs to make building our investment in CTE a top priority!
    • Ask them to support funding for CTE by signing the FY 2015 Perkins appropriations letter being circulated by Senators Blumenthal, Baldwin and Kaine.
