 ACTE 2013 Summer Policy Intern

By: Robert LaBounty, ACTE Policy Intern

My name is Robert LaBounty, and I am the summer policy intern for ACTE’s public policy department.  I am originally from California and recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California San Diego with a major in Political Science and an emphasis on American politics.  I came to Washington, DC with the University of California Washington Center program for the summer and will be learning about policy analysis and lobbying.

Over the summer I look forward to learning about the political process and how organizations like ACTE impact legislation from Congress to the President’s desk.  I am excited to attend meetings on Capitol Hill and watch as they discuss education policy relevant to CTE.  I hope to learn about the lobbying that ACTE does for CTE, and personally impact education and workforce policy through my internship.

I enjoy policy analysis, and in the future see myself working on policy issues with an organization focused on environmental policy, nutritional policy, or educational policy. I strongly believe in protecting our environment as well as ensuring our youth are healthy and educated.

I am excited to be working with ACTE, and I look forward to learning about policy which will keep our country moving forward.
