    In recent weeks, there has been renewed attention on data related to students postsecondary and career success. There is a growing realization among policymakers that current postsecondary data systems, which nationally only collect information on first-time, full-time students, leave a large number of unanswered questions.

    Taking two or more CTE courses is related to lower dropout rates in two Arizona districts, according to a report from the Arizona State University Morrison Institute for Public Policy.

    On Wednesday, May 15, ACTE and the bipartisan Congressional CTE Caucus co-chairs Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA) and Rep. James Langevin (D-RI) held a briefing for congressional staff title “CTE 101: The Nuts and Bolts of Establishing a Qualified Workforce.

  • CTE in the News: “Apprenticeships Could Help U.S. Workers Gain a Competitive Edge,” an Op-Ed in the Washington Post

    Stuart Eizenstat, former chief White House domestic policy advisor under President Jimmy Carter and undersecretary of commerce for international trade in the Clinton Administration, joined with Robert Lerman, a fellow at the Urban Institute, to pen an op-ed published in the Washington Post, “Apprenticeships Could Help U.S. Workers Gain a Competitive Edge.” The op-ed examines the value of apprenticeships and stresses that the United States needs more of these vital workforce development programs

  • National Center for Innovation in CTE Launches Website

    The National Center for Innovation in Career and Technical Education (NCICTE), the new Perkins-funded CTE research center, has launched its website at ctecenter.ed.gov. The website outlines the center's research priorities, includes a list of CTE resources and will house online training modules to provide guidance for translating the center's studies into practice at the college, district or school level.

  • Online Resources Help Practitioners and the Public

    Several new online resources can help students, educators and policymakers track the return on investment of postsecondary education. The California Community Colleges' online scorecard features such metrics as remediation, persistence, completion and participation in CTE for each institution.

  • Deadline Extended for States to Apply for Certification Data Exchange Project

    We've extended the deadline to May 24, 2013 for states to apply to the second round of the Certification Data Exchange Project. This activity, supported by ACTE in cooperation with a number of national and state partners, is geared toward expanding and improving data exchange between industry certification organizations and state longitudinal data systems.
