ACTE Announces 2007 School Tour

2007 Convention Logo

As part of an ever-expanding choice of professional development opportunities during its Annual Convention, ACTE has just announced that it has added a tour of the Northwest Career and Technical Academy in Las Vegas. Northwest is Clark County’s newest career and technical education center and one that houses academies in construction management, culinary arts, early childhood, hospitality, media communications, medical professions, transportation, and engineering and design.

The tour will take place on Wednesday, December 12 from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., and will cost $25 for each participant. The fee covers transportation and a snack created by the school’s culinary arts students.

The tour will consist of an overview of the campus and the philosophy behind the concept and design. Administrators will discuss how the school was designed (it is LEED silver rated), how the curriculum is structured (project-based learning and academic integration), and answer your questions about the school.

All participants will also be taken on a comprehensive tour of the school and shown elements such as the school’s collaborative learning stations, the open design structure (all major systems are easily accessible), and the interactive learning labs.

Registration for this event is now open but space is limited. Only the first 100 educators will be able to attend this special tour. If you have already registered for the ACTE Convention and would like to add this tour to your registration fee, please call 800-826-9972.
