The Community College Summit: Building Gateways to the Green Economy will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center. Business/Education Partnerships 101 - Essential steps to building great programs is the first Webinar in the fall 2008 Webinar series that ACTE, with DeHavilland Associates, will host. It begins at 2:00 p.m. EST. In this Webinar, Brett Pawlowski, president of DeHavilland Associates, will take participants step-by-step through the process of building a strong and sustainable partnership-driven education program. Topics include getting started; partnership principles; the asset inventory; program design; measurement and evaluation; and sustainability.

Preparing School Leaders for Community Engagement is the second Webinar in the fall 2008 Webinar series that ACTE, with DeHavilland Associates, will host. It begins at 2:00 p.m. EST. In this Webinar, Nina Randall, coordinator of the Broward County (FL) Partners In Education, program, will present a nuts-and-bolts training that leaders can deliver to their local school-based partnership liaisons. Training will cover the profile of a School Partnership Liaison, steps to take to get started, Broward County’s policies and guidelines on advertising, fliers and security screening as well as partnership activities and aligning partnerships to curriculum standards, information on recruitment, retention and recognition.

The National Career Pathways Networkwill have its Annual Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is a professional development experience for secondary and postsecondary career pathways and Tech Prep practitioners. Early-bird registration ends August 31.

Building Executive Mentorships Using the PASS (Partnerships to Advance Student Success) Model is the third Webinar in the fall 2008 Webinar series that ACTE, with DeHavilland Associates, will host. In this Webinar, Elaine Liftin, president of the Council for Educational Change, and PASS coordinator Pat Dixon will share best practices that make PASS the most talked about business-education partnership in Florida--and the subject of a recent book. Topics include: business perspective, investing in student success, scale-up, and assessing success.

The Seven Key Benchmarks of Successful Education Foundations is the fifth Webinar in the fall 2008 Webinar series that ACTE, with DeHavilland Associates, will host. It begins at 2:00 p.m. EST. In this Webinar, Jim Collogan, executive director of the National School Foundation Association (NSFA), offers an examination of seven characteristics of the most successful K-12 foundations in the U.S. today. The benchmarks originate from the results of a national survey given to the leaders and school superintendents of K-12 foundations conducted by the NSFA in February 2008.

Using the Critical Path Method to Design Education Programs that Get Results Webinar in the fall 2008 Webinar series that ACTE, with DeHavilland Associates, will host. It begins at 2:00 p.m. EST. The Critical Path method is an effective tool to be used in designing and managing your education initiatives. In this Webinar, Jim McMurtray, executive director of the National Alliance of State Science and Mathematics Coalitions (NASSMC), will show participants how to define their desired program outcomes and to identify the interim objectives, barriers and project requirements they must address in order to chart a path to the successful fulfillment of their goals.
