Latest News:
On Wednesday, December 9, 2009, Rep. Brian Baird (D-WA) announced that he will not seek re-election in 2010. He stated, “This is right time for my family, and I will find a new way to serve the country in the future." Rep. Baird currently serves as co-chair of the Congressional Career and Technical Education Caucus. He is also a member of the Committee on Science and Technology and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
Rep. Baird has been a true supporter of CTE during his time in Congress. As co-chair of the Caucus, he has initiated and sponsored several “Dear Colleague” letters that called for an increase in the Perkins program, sponsored resolutions for CTE Month, and spoke and hosted several Capitol Hill events on CTE. The CTE community will miss the leadership of Rep. Baird but looks forward to continuing to work with him as he completes his term next year and in his future endeavors.
